Genre 
Synopsis: Kishorilal (Amrish Puri) is a successful businessman settled in America but still emotionally attached to his motherland – India. So the he comes to India with his “American” son Rajiv (Apurva Agnihotri) to find a suitable ‘”Indian” girl for him. Kishorilal hopes that she will instill some Indian values in his extremely westernized son. He finds Ganga (Mahima Chaudhry) in the house of his childhood friend Suraj Dev (Alok Nath). To finalize the marriage he sends his son along with his foster son Arjun (Shahrukh Khan) to India. Arjun plays Cupid and returns to America with Ganga and Rajiv.

Shyam and Makarand work as photographers in a commercial advertising agency. Both of them like to fool around with women, even though Makarand is engaged to be married to a doctor named Anjali. In order to outsmart each other, they two get into a competition of shooting a photograph, and Sam wins it, goes on a trip to the United States of America. Upon his return, he finds that Makarand is living a very enviable lifestyle with three of the most beautiful girls, who also work as air-hostesses. Aliya’s brother Kadar (Upendra Limaye) who is also good friend of Pashyabhai, fixes the marriage of his sister with Inspector Alam (Chinmay Mandlekar). When Kadar comes to know about his sister’s relationship with Amar, he warns him and even beats him. In the meanwhile, communal riots break out and Inspector Alam is killed. Kadar suspects Amar and vows to take the revenge. Amar and Aliya who are intensely in love, manage to run away from the scene.
