Ravi is a distraught young man who works day and night by driving a taxi in order to forget his horrible past. He visits a brothel with his friend, Gotya and falls in love with a prostitute by the name of Pooja – but meets with strong opposition from the head of the brothel Maharani who will not buck under any pressure nor permit anyone of her prostitutes to fall in love with anybody.

Begum Jaan
Begum Jaan transports us to the communally-charged time of the Partition, and the ‘butchering’ of India into two parts. The film tells the story of a brothel which lies right in the middle of the proposed Radcliffe line. When two officials, one from the Indian National Congress (Ashish Vidyarthi) and another from the All-India Muslim League (Rajit Kapoor), tell the madam of the brothel, Begum Jaan (Vidya Balan), that she has to vacate, she is defiant and determined that nothing can displace her and her girls from their home.
Begum has full faith in the Raja (Naseeruddin Shah), whose patronage she enjoys, but her hopes are eventually dashed when he tells her the reduced authority of royalty in the new, democratic India. Begum Jaan also subtly shows the ‘what if’ side of the Partition. What if men had taken up arms and refused to be divided on the parochial basis of religion?

A transgender prostitute (Kitana Kiki Rodriguez) is released from prison and meets her friend at a donut shop. She learns that her boyfriend and pimp (James Ransone) is cheating on her and begins a search through the neighborhood for retribution.
Laaga Chunari Mein Daag: Journey of a Woman
Laaga Chunari Mein Daag deals with one conservative relatively poor family and talks mainly about the eldest girl who takes up the responsibility of protecting and supporting her family financially. Badki (Rani Mukherjee) and Chutki (Konkana Sen) live a fun-filled life in Banaras. Badki is aware that the family is in dire straits, but she and her mother protect Chutki at all costs. When things get worse, Badki decides to go to Mumbai and seek a living for the family. Alone and unsupported in the midst of the urban jungle of Mumbai, Badki battles with dark forces, keeping her focus on her purpose to support her family and continue Chutki’s education. She deliberately morphs into someone else, leading a secret life full of murky compromises. When Chutki comes to Mumbai to work, things take a dramatic turn as she has to hide her secrets from Chutki. But her dual life is revealed, and the two sisters come face to face.Everything threatens to explode in their faces, destroying all of them.
